Underfloor Heating Cable - Measuring Up
In a conservatory allow 150 watts per m². The spacer strips are laid at 500/600mm centres across the floor and the underfloor heating cable is run up and down through the spacer strips at 100mm spacing (every 2nd loop on the spacer strips).
To ensure you are using the correct underfloor heating cable size, once you have worked out the square metre area and the wattage e.g. 3.5 x 3.0 = 10.5m² x 150 = 1575 watts then cross reference this with the linear metres on the Enercable table using the 100mm spacing which would equate to 35 lengths x 3.0m = 105 linear metres so you would use a 1700 watt Klima cable set.
If you have too much underfloor heating cable then run the cable through every loop (50mm apart) for some of the runs to take up the excess. Do not cut the cable. The cable should not be altered in any way, as shortening the cable will damage the system. Do not install the cable under appliances or fitted units. Cable removed from original packaging, adjusted or disturbed in any way cannot be returned under any circumstances.
Rough Guide:
1000w Klima Underfloor Heating Cable = will cover area between 4m² to 7m²
1700w Klima Underfloor Heating Cable = will cover area between 8m² to 11m²
